The Netbook Conspiracy - It's All About Profits

We often get asked why so many manufacturers are now offering netbooks instead or aswell as laptops. True there is definitely a growing market for these smaller machines as a stand in or second machine. The Asus eee pc is probably the pick of the bunch in terms of value for money and durability. However, there is a motive for this sudden dirth of netbooks thrust upon unsuspecting consumers - they're cheaper to make, and offer a better margin to the corporations who make them.
Put any netbook against a standard 15.4" widescreen laptop and sure the netbooks are more mobile, fun to use and a good tool, but in our opinion, you get far more for you buck with a laptop.

Notice something else ? Yep - prices of laptops at the lower end in particular have started to lift just as mass production of netbooks kicks in. You as a consumer are being politely, gently but determindly steered towards the margin making little netbook. Clever eh !
